Men's Volleyball Falls to USC 3-1

Los Angeles, CA - Lincoln Memorial's Men's Volleyball fell to the Southern Cal Trojans, 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 23-25, 18-25), last night in the Galen Center.  

Notables:
Justin Sharfenaker led LMU with 11 kills, Shay Spadaro had nine kills.
Luigi Pacini hit .313, Kohl Kutsch hit .800.
Kohl Kutsch had 39 assists.
Justin Sharfenaker had nine digs: Luigi PaciniKohl Kutsch had eight digs.
USC outhit LMU .327 to .202, USC's Dillon Klein had 24 kills (.524).

LMU and USC started off in the first set fairly close until the 9-9 mark when USC started pulling ahead to take a 16-10 lead.  LMU got as close as three but ran out of time, losing 25-21.

In the second set, LMU took the lead at 5-4 early lead.  The Railsplitters built a five point lead at 15-10 with USC only getting as close as two the remainder of the set.  LMU's Pacini had a kill to make it 24-20, then Sharfenaker had a service ace to close out the set, 25-20.

In the third set, USC made their move at 3-3 to build a six point lead at, 15-9.  At 14-21, LMU made a move with a service ace by Spadaro and kills by Spadaro, Kutsch, and Ethan Morgan to get to 21-24.  A couple of USC attack errors got LMU within one (23-24), but an LMU attack error ended the set, 25-23.

The fourth set was a battle until 10-9, USC.  The Trojans started pulling away building a five-point lead at 17-12.  USC continued the attack eventually pulling ahead by seven and finishing the set (25-18) and match, 3-1.


The Railsplitters will travel to Malibu tonight to face Pepperdine at 5PT.
