Men's basketball hosts conference rival Carson-Newman on Wednesday

Harrogate, TN - The storied rivalry between Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman will add another chapter on Tuesday as the Railsplitters play host to the Eagles for the series' 217th installment. Lincoln Memorial is coming off of a victory over Lees-McRae at home, while Carson-Newman is coming off of a 98-87 victory over Belmont Abbey.

Carson-Newman has four players averaging double figures in scoring, led by John Zhao, who averages 20 points-per-game. Nick Brenegar follows closely with 18 points-per-game. Both are shooting over 50% from long range on the season. Zhao is the South Atlantic Conference's second leading scorer, and is first in three point field goal percentage, shooting a blistering 58.7% from long range. Jack Browder is averaging 16.2 points-per-game. He is the team's leading free throw shooter, consistently getting to the charity stripe, connecting on 45-of-57 attempts on the season. Trey Hubbard follows with 15.4 points-per-game.

Lincoln Memorial also has four, nearly five, players averaging double figures. Me'Kell Burries has led the team in scoring all season, and is currently averaging 15.6 points-per-game, with a 43% mark from deep. Chase Rankin is averaging 12.8 points-per-game on the season with 4.8 rebounds-per-game, and 5.1 assists-per-game. Matthew Sells is hovering on the line of double figures, scoring an average of 9.9 points-per-game. He is the team's second leading three point shooter, posting a 36% clip from deep with 26 three pointers made this season. In his LMU debut against Lees-McRae, freshman Wes Enis erupted for 19 points to lead the Railsplitters in scoring. Senior forward Martez Brown has not only the conference, but the country on notice with is play so far this season. Brown currently averages 12.8 points-per-game and 13.0 rebounds-per-game. He is ranked #1 in DII NCAA men's basketball in field goal percentage (71.58%), total rebounds (156), and defensive rebounds-per-game (9.42). He is third in the NCAA in double-doubles with seven on the season, and is 17th in the NCAA in offensive rebounds-per-game (3.58). He leads the South Atlantic Conference in all these categories, and is the only player in the conference currently averaging a double-double on the season.
