Harrogate, TN - Three days after an absolutely blistering performance in Mars Hill, the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters were back at home against Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, seeking their fourth win in a row. The Railsplitters entered the game with a 12-5 record overall, including a 6-2 mark in SAC play. The Bears entered the game with a record of 9-7 with a 4-4 mark in conference play.
To start the game, neither team seemed able to find early, consistent offensive rhythm. With the score knotted at 13-13 with 10:58 remaining in the first half, Lincoln Memorial began to find its footing. On the heels of a 9-0 run, Lincoln Memorial assumed a 22-16 lead with 8:02 remaining. The Railsplitters outscored the Bears 16-9 in the final eight minutes of the first half to take a 38-25 lead into the half. To start the back end of the game, the Railsplitters picked up right where they left off in the first half. Leading 41-32, Lincoln Memorial strung together a couple of runs, extending its lead to 56-40. From there, the Railsplitters began the onslaught. With a 15 point lead, 58-43, Lincoln Memorial went on an 18-7 run to increase its lead to a comfortable 73-50. With the game firmly in hand, the Railsplitters finished the game outscoring Lenoir-Rhyne 13-7 with their reserves to secure an 86-57 victory; their fourth in a row. the 57 points allowed by the Railsplitters are the second lowest total allowed this season.
Lincoln Memorial led a very well-balanced scoring attack throughout the game, led by
Me'Kell Burries, who led all scorers with 20 points. He was followed closely by
Chase Rankin with 19 points, eight assists, and five rebounds and freshman
Wes Enis, who continues to make a dramatic impact, with 19 points three assists, and six rebounds.
Martez Brown continues to show why he is the nation's leading rebounder, hauling in 18 rebounds to go along with 14 points, tallying his 11th double-double of the season.
Jordan Walters and
Luke Bartemes added six points apiece.
Jay Boyd added two points to round out scoring for the Railsplitters.
With the victory, Lincoln Memorial improved to 13-5 on the season with a 7-2 mark in conference play, extending its current winning streak to four games. The Railsplitters will be back in action against Tusculum on Wednesday night for the "White Out" in Tex Turner Arena.
