Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team was back in action on Saturday at home, hosting the Anderson Lady Trojans in South Atlantic Conference play. The Lady Splitters entered the game with a 12-4 record and a 7-3 mark in conference play. The Lady Trojans charged into the game with a 14-3 record, including a 6-3 mark in conference play.
Both team's offenses were clicking in the opening period, with Anderson maintaining a 25-20 advantage after the first horn. The Lady Splitters' defense limited the Lady Trojans to just 18 points in the second quarter, while outscoring them 22-18, drawing back to within a single point by the halftime intermission, 43-42. However, as play resumed in the third, Lincoln Memorial began to sputter offensively in spurts, allowing Anderson to extend its lead to 68-60 entering the final frame. The Lady Trojans ratcheted up the defense in the final quarter, outscoring Lincoln Memorial 17-15 in the period to take an 85-75 victory over the Lady Splitters.
Lincoln Memorial was led by
Lauren Flowers with 23 points and seven rebounds. She was followed by
Alexa Smiddy with 14 points, three steals, and two assists.
Jordan Maney chipped in 11 points and three assists in limited minutes due to early foul trouble.
Jamyah Winter added eight points, connecting on 2-of-3 shot attempts from long range.
Matty Tanner added seven points and six assists. Geo Rios added five points and seven rebounds.
Jazzmen Robinson added five points and four rebounds.
Zyan Smith chipped in two points to round out scoring for Lincoln Memorial.
The Lady Splitters will be back in action on Wednesday Jan. 31 on the road at Carson-Newman.
