Men's basketball downs Anderson at home, extends winning streak to six games

Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team was back in action at home, hosting the Anderson Trojans on Saturday in conference action. The Railsplitters entered the game with a 14-5 overall record, including a 8-2 mark in conference play, and were riding a five game winning streak. Anderson entered the contest with a 9-8 record, and a 4-5 mark in conference play.

Anderson opened the game on an 8-4 run thanks to a pair of three pointers. Lincoln Memorial quickly responded, tying the game at 10-10. After regaining the lead at 13-10, the Railsplitters would never relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game. On the heels of a 19-7 run, Lincoln Memorial's lead swelled to 29-17 with 3:16 remaining in the first half. The Trojans outscored the Railsplitters 6-10 in the final three minutes, but Lincoln Memorial maintained a 35-27 advantage at the break. The second half was much more competitive as the teams traded buckets throughout the back end of the game. With 3:27 remaining in the game, the Trojans made their final push, drawing the game back to within five points, 65-60. However, it wasn't enough, as the Railsplitters weathered the storm, outscoring Anderson 13-7 in the final three minutes to secure a 78-67 victory, their sixth win in a row.

Lincoln Memorial was led in scoring by Me'Kell Burries, who exploded for 28 points, connecting on 4-of-7 attempts from long range. He was followed by Martez Brown, the nation's leading rebounder, with 14 points and 17 rebounds, tallying his 12th double-double of the season. Freshman Wes Enis added 10 points and three rebounds. Chase Rankin pitched in nine points, seven assists, and five rebounds, turning in another extremely well-rounded effort. Luke Bartemes added eight points. Jordan Walters added seven points, four assists, and three rebounds. Osmar Garcia-Araujo added two points to round out scoring for Lincoln Memorial.

The Railsplitters will be back in action on the road Wednesday at Carson-Newman.
