Harrogate, TN - It was a battle of two winless teams on Monday in Harrogate as the Belmont Abbey Crusaders came to town to take on the Railsplitters. The game was originally scheduled for October 5th but was postponed until Monday due to the effects of hurricane Helene.
Belmont Abbey struck first just eight minutes into the game as Casey Etter gave the Crusaders a quick 1-0 lead. However, Lincoln Memorial responded with a goal from
Guadalupe Montaldo on a penalty stroke to tie the game at 1-1. It was the only goal the Railsplitters were able to score throughout the game as the offense failed to capitalize. Lincoln Memorial had seven penalty corners and seven shots on goal, but never could quite find the net. The Crusaders added two more goals in the second quarter as Hailey Leatherman and McKinley Soto each found the cage to secure the 3-1 victory for Belmont Abbey.
With the loss, Lincoln Memorial moved to 0-7 on the season with an 0-7 mark in conference play. It'll be a quick turnaround for the Railsplitters as they play host to the Lander Bearcats on Wednesday with the game slated to begin at 5:00 PM.
