Harrogate, TN - Four days after opening the season with an emphatic 107-69 victory over Shorter University, the Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team is slated to be back at home on Wednesday evening for its first ever meeting with Claflin University.
The Panthers opened the season with a loss to Millersville University before defeating Mansfield University the following day, amassing a 1-1 record through two games. Claflin is averaging 78.5 points-per-game, winning by an average margin of 10.5 points, shooting 43% from the floor and 38% from long range. The Panthers are led in scoring by Gregory Spurlock, who averages 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He is followed by Cristian Sanon who averages 14.0 points and 2.0 rebounds-per-game, and Jailen Williams who averages 10 points and 5.5 rebounds-per-game. Bray Greer is the team's leading rebounder, hauling in an average of six boards a game.
The Railsplitters looked extremely efficient offensively in their season opener, cruising to a 38-point victory, connecting on 14 three-pointers and tallying 24 assists in the process. Lincoln Memorial blistered the nets throughout the game, shooting 67% from the floor in the first half, including a 56% mark from long range, and 94% from the stripe throughout the game. The Railsplitters are led in scoring by defending SAC Freshman of the Year
Wes Enis, who tallied 22 points and five rebounds in the season opener, shooting 64% from the floor and 60% from long range. He is followed by
Thomas Allard, who netted 17 points in the opening game, connecting on five three-pointers.
Jordan Walters is the third leading scorer on the team, averaging 16 points-per-game after one, but leads the team in rebounding an assist, averaging eight and seven per game respectively.
EJ Smith is the fourth Railsplitter to average double figures, scoring an average of 12 points-per-game while dishing out an average of four assists per game.
Tip-off between the Railsplitters and Panthers is slated for 7:00 PM in Tex Turner Arena on Wednesday night.
