Harrogate, TN - The 14th-ranked Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team was back in action on Saturday at home against Wingate, putting its six game conference winning streak on the line against the Bulldogs.
Lincoln Memorial came out firing, jumping out to a quick 11-5 lead. The teams traded buckets seeing the score swell to 18-12 as the Bulldogs answered the initial Railsplitter push with a 6-0 run to tie the game at 18-18 with 11:44 remaining in the first half. From there, the teams traded leads seven times throughout the remainder of the half, seeing the Bulldogs take a slim 43-42 lead into the half. Both teams blistered the nets in the first half. The Railsplitters connected on 54% of their three point attempts, going 7-of-13 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs shot an impressive 53% from deep as well, connecting on 9-of-17 attempts beyond the arc. Both teams were perfect from the stripe with Lincoln Memorial connecting on all seven attempts and Wingate connecting on both free throw attempts in the first half.
Wes Enis erupted for 24 first half points to lead all scorers.
The Railsplitters came out fast to start the second half opening on an 11-4 run to take a 53-47 lead with 15 minutes left in the game. The Bulldogs responded with a 9-0 run to regain the lead at 56-53 with just under 12 minutes remaining. The lead grew to 58-53, Wingate's largest of the game to that point, before a pair of
EJ Smith free throws drew the score back to within one possession, 58-55 with 10 minutes left in the game. The Bulldogs increased tempo, going on a 6-2 run to extend their lead to 64-57 with 8:51 remaining. Enis responded with a three point basket, his first of the second half to cut the score back to within four points, 64-60. Lincoln Memorial battled back with a 7-2 run to regain the lead, 67-66, with 6:31 left on the clock.
Jordan Walters attacked the rim and finished through contact for the old fashioned three point play to extend the Railsplitters' lead to 70-68 as the clock crept below six minutes remaining. Lincoln Memorial's lead swelled to 74-68 on the heels of a 6-0 run with four minutes remaining in the game.
Freeman took over in the final four minutes of the game, leading the charge on a 7-0 run to extend the Lincoln Memorial lead to 81-70, its largest of the game, with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Wingate cut the lead to single digits at 82-78 with less than 30-seconds remaining in the game. However, good ball control and free throws down the stretch allowed the Railsplitters to secure an 85-78 victory, improving to 9-1 on the season, including an unblemished 7-0 mark in conference play.

Wes Enis with 33 points.
Elyjah Freeman dominated the second half and ended up tallying a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds.
Jordan Walters added 12 points and five rebounds.
EJ Smith and Mahmoud "Mo" Bangura each tallied nine points and
Connor Jordan added two points to round out scoring for the Railsplitters.
