Harrogate, TN- Lincoln Memorial hosted Lee University today, February 21st, for a midweek doubleheader. LMU would take both on the day, the first by a score of 12-3 and the second by a score of 4-14.
The first game of the day would feature a hot start from the Railsplitters at the plate. RBI singles from
Sterre den Duijn,
Madison Henry, and
Hannah McMeen would feature four runs crossing the plate as LMU would go a whole batting rotation in the frame. The second would continue the momentum, with contact from den Duijn and
Katy Pozzuto scoring two more. The third inning would open up the game for the run rule scoring margin. A couple of hits, a walk, and an error would make up the beginning of the half inning. Pozzuto would hammer one over the left field wall for her first home run of the year to clear the bases and let LMU put up a six spot in the inning. Lee would try to answer with a couple of runs of their own but it would not be enough to extend the game past five innings.
Margot van Eijl gets the win on the game, striking out five while on the mound.
The second game would show to be the opposite situation, with Lee having the hot bat for the duration of the game. Lee would strike first with a solo home run in the second, which LMU would answer in the bottom half of the inning from a couple of Flame errors, leaving the game tied at 1-1. Four runs in the third from Lee would force the Railsplitters to answer. They would do just that through hits from Vivrette, den Duijn, and Pozzuto alongside a Bogoski sacrifice fly to put up three more runs. Lee would overpower on offense for the rest of the game, totaling 15 hits in the contest.
Lincoln Memorial moves to 8-8 on the season, and will return to action at home on Friday, February 23rd, for a doubleheader versus Saginaw Valley State, slated to start at 1 PM and 3 PM.
