Railsplitters wallop Wasps in final regular season road game

Emory, VA - The Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters were back in action for their third game since Saturday on Wednesday night, taking to Emory, VA for their final regular season road game to take on the Emory & Henry Wasps. When the teams met earlier this season, the Railsplitters took a nearly 30 point decision at home, 93-67. Lincoln Memorial entered the game with a 20-7 record, including a 14-4 mark in conference play. Emory & Henry stumbled into the game 6-21 with a 2-16 mark against SAC competition.

Lincoln Memorial started the game red hot, exploding to a quick 8-0 lead in the first 2:30 of the game, thanks to back-to-back threes from Wes Enis. As Emory & Henry began to battle back, cutting the score to 10-6, Thomas Allard connected on a pair of back-to-back threes as well, further extending the Railsplitters' lead to 16-8. As play progressed, the score swelled to 28-19 in favor of Lincoln Memorial. The Wasps continued to fight back, cutting the score to 30-25 with 5:50 remaining in the first half. Outscoring Emory & Henry 17-12 over the final 5:50 of the first half, Lincoln Memorial held a 47-37 lead at the halftime break.

The Railsplitters came out throwing haymakers in the second half, starting the second half on a 10-2 run in just three minutes of game time. The Railsplitters lead swelled to nearly 20 points, but Emory & Henry refused to go away, cutting the lead to 10 points multiple times. With the score resting at 69-57, the Wasps connected on a pair of free throws, once again drawing back to within 10 points, 69-59 with just over eight minutes left in the game. The Lincoln Memorial lead once again swelled to 15 points, 78-63 with less than five minutes to go. The Wasps would only get as close to the lead as 13 points for the remainder of the game, seeing Lincoln Memorial secure a 92-78 victory, improving to 21-7 on the season with a 15-4 mark in conference play.

Lincoln Memorial was led in scoring by Wes Enis, matching a career-high 35 points, with six made three pointers. He was followed by Thomas Allard, who scored a new career-high with 16 points, including four made three pointers. Martez Brown was absolutely unstoppable on the glass, hauling in 19 rebounds, tallying his 18th double-double of the season with 13 points as well. Me'Kell Burries added 13 points with three three pointers made. Matthew Sells added eight points, Osmar Garcia-Araujo added four points, and Luke Bartemes added three points to round out scoring for Lincoln Memorial.
