Box Score 2 Harrogate, TN- The Railsplitters traveled to Due West, SC, for a game against Erskine on Friday. The team had a quick turnaround as they traveled the next day to Franklin Springs, GA, to play Emmanuel for their second time this season. In their previous meeting earlier this year, the Railsplitters secured a dominant 3-0 victory in straight sets.
The Railsplitters won the match against Erskine in four sets after dropping set 1. The first set went to Erskine in a tight battle 20-25. However, the Railsplitters swept them in the next 3 sets, 26-16, 25-14, and 25-16. Griffin Wheatley led the match with 11 kills and Johan Negron and Shay Spadaro also contributed 7 kills each. Senior, Matthew Gentry had 9 kills total along with three service aces. Matthew Gentry and Tate Colebaugh had 5 digs a piece. Kohl Kutsch contributed a massive 25 digs.
The Railsplitters also won the match against Emmanuel in 4 sets. Griffin Wheatley led in kills with 15 and Johan Negron also contributed 13 kills. Ethan Morgan had the highest hitting percentage. Overall, the team had 51 digs in total, and a total of 12 blocks. The team fell to Emmanuel in the first set battling to 26-28. The team came back and won the second match 28-26. The last two sets went to 25-23 and 25-22.
Lincoln Memorial is slated for a brief break of a week before taking on two fierce Ivy League contenders, #16 Princeton and Harvard.
