Tigerville, SC - After taking two of three games on the road at Limestone last weekend, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team was back on the diamond Wednesday faced with taking down the second ranked team in the nation, the North Greenville Crusaders. The Railsplitters entered the game with 16-6 overall record with an 8-4 mark in conference play. The Crusaders entered the game with a 19-4 record with an 8-1 record in conference play.
The game was a pitching clinic through the first three innings, with neither team able to find any success on offense. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the home standing Crusaders tallied their first goal of the game, taking a 1-0 lead. Things remained quiet in the fifth until the Railsplitters took control of the game for the first time in the top of the sixth inning when
Carson Boles reached on a fielding error by the North Greenville second baseman, allowing
Kasten Harvey to advance to third and subsequently score on the error.
Collin Goda also scored, giving Lincoln Memorial a 2-1 lead. The Crusaders answered with a two run homer in the bottom of the inning, regaining the lead, 3-2.
North Greenville failed to relinquish the lead, securing a 3-2 victory.
Carson Boles led Lincoln Memorial on the sticks with one hit and one RBI.
Kasten Harvey,
Deatric Alexander Jr., and
Collin Goda added one hit each.
Carter White got the start on the mound, pitching five innings allowing one hit, one run, and one earned run with three walks and a strikeout.
Aiden Carter,
Colin Murphy, and
David Brian Ellison all pitched in relief.
