Harrogate, TN - March Madness has begun, and the Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team is gearing up for game one of the NCAA DII Men's Basketball Tournament, beginning with 6-seed Lander in the opening round of the Southeast Region, beginning on Saturday in Dahlonega, GA. The Railsplitters are 24-8 on the season, finishing runners up to Catawba in the SAC Tournament after taking the regular season championship. This will be the second year in a row that Lincoln Memorial has opened the regional tournament against Lander. The Railsplitters took down the Bearcats 76-63 in last year's regional game.
Lincoln Memorial is led in scoring by freshman
Wes Enis, averaging 17.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game since joining the team in early January. Enis was named Third Team All-SAC and Freshman of the Year byt he conference.
Me'Kell Burries follows with an average of 14.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Burries was named Third Team All-SAC as well.
Chase Rankin averages a very well-balanced stat line, scoring an average of 13.3 points per game to go along with 4.9 rebounds per game and 5.0 assists per game. Rankin was named First Team All-SAC this season. Senior forward
Martez Brown continues to lead not only the conference, but the nation, in rebounding, field goal percentage, and double-doubles. Brown was named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 50 Watch List for the best player in small college basketball earlier this season. He was named First Team All-SAC, became the SAC's all-time leading rebounder, and was also named to the First Team All-Region team. He is averaging 13.3 points and an astonishing 14.1 rebounds per game.
