Harrogate, TN- Men's Volleyball downed Missouri S&T in back-to-back days on Monday, March 25th, and Tuesday, March 26th.
The first game would be a dominant showing for the Railsplitters, with their 25-14, 25-9, 25-15 three-set victory. The first set would feature
Axel van Baars, who would earn four kills on a .429 attack percentage in the set. The second set would be highlighted by five service aces and a tallied six block assists, aided by a negative hitting percentage from the Miners. The third set would go similarly, the Splitters hitting .579 in the frame to take the match.
Tate Colebaugh would be a force defensively, tallying seven digs in the contest.
Justin Sharfenaker would also make a statement, leading the team in kills (8) on a .800 hitting percentage. van Baars would add to his solid day, finishing the contest with four service aces and helping the team secure the win.
The second game would go similarly, earning yet another sweep win. LMU would be effective in the first set, earning 10 kills on 18 attacks with zero errors to take the frame 25-16. Missouri S&T would put up a fight in the second, however, outhitting the Railsplitters .296 to .241 in the set. It wouldn't be enough, however, as Sharfenaker would earn five kills in the second and the team would bring their assisted block total to 18 to give them the edge, 25-21. Sharfenaker and
Eliel Salva Torres would be the kill leaders in the contest, each tallying eight. Salva Torres would also lead the team in block assists, totaling eight in that column as well as part of the teams 24 total block assists and one solo block. Colebaugh would have yet another impressive defensive showing, recording 11 digs on the day, aiding in the Railsplitters' third set 25-17 victory to take the match.
LMU improves to 18-5 on the season and will see their last regular season action on Saturday, April 6th, at home against Tusculum for Senior Day.
