Rock Hill, SC - The Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team took to the hardwood for postseason play this afternoon in Rock Hill, SC against the 4-seed Wingate Lady Bulldogs. The two teams split a pair of regular season games this season with each road team securing victory, both games were won by single digits. Lincoln Memorial was 19-7 overall and 14-6 in conference. Similarly, Wingate was 19-9 on the season with a 14-6 mark in conference play.
Wingate took control from the tip, scoring the game's first bucket. The first quarter remained competitive as Lincoln Memorial kept the game tight, drawing within one possession multiple times. The Lady Bulldogs would go on to outscore the Lady Splitters 19-14 in the first quarter. Lincoln Memorial fought back even harder in the second quarter, drawing back to within one point, 21-20 with 6:35 left before the half. Over the final 6:35 of the half, Wingate went on a 13-1 run, increasing its lead to 33-22 by the halftime horn.
The Lady Splitters fought to close the gap in the third quarter, getting as close as seven points, 43-36 with just 2:46 remaining before the final frame. The Lady Bulldogs took a 45-36 lead into the fourth quarter. Wingate began to extend its lead in the final quarter, but Lincoln Memorial failed to lay over, pulling back to within eight points 51-43 with 6:29 left in the game. A fire was lit in the bellies of the Lady Splitters, on the heels of a 7-0 run, Lincoln Memorial pulled the score back to within a single possession, 51-48 with 4:12 remaining. It began to become clear that this game would be eerily reminiscent of the two games played during the regular season, which each were decided by single digits. The score was cut to 51-50 with 3:18 remaining in the game, giving the Lady Splitters an opportunity to take their first lead of the game. Lincoln Memorial was on a 9-0 run, limiting Wingate to zero FGs over two and a half minutes.
The run was halted by a pair of free throws from the Lady Bulldogs, extending the Wingate lead to 53-52. Lincoln Memorial answered, seeing the game remain at a one point margin, 53-52 with just over two minutes remaining. The Lady Splitters' defense forced a shot clock violation, allowing Lincoln Memorial to take possession with a chance to take its first lead of the game. 
Alexa Smiddy stepped to the line, connecting on 1-of-2 free throws, tying the game at 53-53 with less than a minute remaining in the game. A pair of free throws saw the Lady Bulldogs regain the lead 55-53. After regaining possession, Smiddy drove the tin and was fouled. The ball rolled around the whole rim and out. Smiddy then connected on 1-of-2 free throws, cutting the deficit to one point, 55-54, with just 17-seconds left in the game. In an attempt to save as much time as possible, Lincoln Memorial elected to foul, seeing the Lady Bulldogs connect on 1-of-2 attempts, taking a 56-54 lead with 17 seconds left. Wingate stepped to the line with less than 10 seconds left, connecting on one free throw to give themselves a 57-54 lead, securing a victory in the opening round of the SAC tournament.
The Lady Splitters finish the season with a 19-8 overall record and a 14-7 mark in conference play.
