Crestview Hills, KY - The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team claimed its sixth consecutive IVA Tournament Championship on Saturday, downing the three-seeded Thomas More Saints 3-0 in straight sets. The Railsplitters didn't drop a single set throughout the IVA Tournament, sweeping the tournament in six sets. Lincoln Memorial claimed the championship in successive sets 25-17, 25-16, and 25-19.
The Railsplitters dominated the tournament from start to finish. In the championship game,
Justin Sharfenaker led Lincoln Memorial in kills with 13. He was followed by
Griffin Wheatley with nine,
Axel van Baars with seven,
Matthew Gentry,
Kohl Kutsch, and Eliel Slava Torres with four.
Luigi Pacini added one. Kutsch dominated with 30 assist. He was followed by Wheatley with four,
Tate Colebaugh with four, Sharfenaker with one, Gentry with one, and Pacini with one. Colebaugh led the team in digs with six. He was followed by Kutsch, Wheatley, and Sharfenaker with five each. Gentry and van Baars added three apiece. Pacini added two and Salva Torres added one.
Kutsch was named IVA Tournament MVP for his efforts this weekend. Â Joining him on the all-Tournament team was Gentry and Sharfenaker from LMU, Eli Chambers from Thomas More, Luke Kraft from Maryville, and Deklan Wingo from Tusculum.
Lincoln Memorial previously won the IVA tournament in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Â The 2020 IVA tournament was canceled due to COVID-19. LMU will now wait until April 22st to see if they will make the NCAA Tournament.
