WALK OFF: Lincoln Memorial downs #3 North Greenville with a walk-off home run

Harrogate, TN - A day after defeating the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans in a make up game, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team was back in action at home against the #3 North Greenville Crusaders. When the teams met earlier this season, the Crusaders took a narrow 3-2 decision. Wednesday's game was another nail-biter, going to extra innings. However, unlike the game earlier this season, Wednesday's game favored the Railsplitters. Carson Boles connected on a solo walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning, seeing the #3 Crusaders fall to the Railsplitters 4-3.

Lincoln Memorial was the first on the board, tallying two runs in the bottom of the first. Alex Kowalksi singled to center field, driving in Boles. The following at-bat saw Ryan Kurth drive in Cameron Bowen with a single to right field, giving the Railsplitters a 2-0 lead. North Greenville chipped away at the lead with one run in the second inning, cutting the score to 2-1. The Crusaders knotted the game at 2-2 in the top of the third inning. Neither team scored in the fourth. North Greenville took its first lead of the game in the top of the fifth inning, adding one run to take a 3-2 lead. Lincoln Memorial answered back in the bottom of the inning when Kowalski drove in Bowen with a double to left field, tying the game at 3-3. Each defense held the opposing offense for the next five innings. After retiring the Crusaders in the top of the 10th, Boles stepped to the plate and connected on a solo walk-off home run to clinch the game and split the season series 1-1 with #3 North Greenville.

The Railsplitters saw six different pitchers take the mound on Wednesday. Eli Edds got the start from the bump, pitching one inning, allowing zero hits, zero runs and zero earned runs with zero walks and one strikeout. Ethan Bobo pitched one inning, allowing one hit, one run, and zero earned runs with zero walks and zero strikeouts. Colin Murphy pitched one inning, allowing one hit, one run, and one earned run with zero walks and three strikeouts. Carter White pitched one inning, allowing one hit, one run, and zero earned runs with one walk and zero strikeouts. David Brian Ellison pitched four innings, allowing zero hits, zero runs, and zero earned runs with two walks and three strikeouts. Aiden Carter closed the game, pitching two innings, allowing zero hits, zero runs, and zero earned runs with one walk and zero strikeouts.
