Cleveland, TN- LMU would wrap up their time at the Flame Invitational on Saturday, splitting the two games to finish 3-1 overall at the tournament.Â
LMU would fall just short of Eckerd in game one on the day. After a back-and-forth first set, a
Katherine Bedel kill would seal the frame 25-23 for the Splitters. The second set would go similarly until the Tritons would pull away to even up the count. An early streak in the third would give LMU the lead to hold, taking the set 25-20. Eckerd would then swing the momentum back their way, going on to take the fourth set 21-25. EC would find themselves on a small run after a close beginning of the fifth, creating a deficit too large to close.Â
Three Splitters would tally double-digit kills in the first game in
Kristen Moehring (22),
Katherine Bedel (13), and
Megan Maier (11).
Reagan Wilkerson would lead the charge defensively, earning 19 digs on the game with
Agata Bogdanska contributing via six total blocks.Â
Five sets would be the theme of the day, LMU taking the win over the host Lee University in game two on Saturday. Lee would begin the contest strong, taking a lead early in the first set and holding on to take the early lead. The Splitters would turn it around in the second, staying consistent and fending off the efforts of LU to win it 25-19. A five point run in the middle of the third would give LMU the push towards an easy 25-11, to take a set lead. Lee wouldn't fold easy, however, the home team pulling out a close fourth set and surging to take a 13-8 lead in the fifth. In a sudden turn of events, seven straight points from the blue and gray would shock Lee and give Lincoln Memorial the win.Â
Moehring would add 21 more kills to her season total in the contest while freshman
Gracen Klima would add 12 kills of her own. Bogdanska's eight blocks in the match would increase her tally and be key on the defensive side of the net.
Lauren Pickett would again handle the load as setter, earning herself 53 assists in the win. Abigail Kelser would also make her mark on the stat sheet, posting nine kills and three total blocks as well.Â
Lincoln Memorial moves to 6-2 (0-1) on the season and will return to action for a conference contest on the road at Mars Hill this Tuesday, September 17th, at 7 PM.
