Field hockey seeking first conference victory at Coker Friday

Harrogate, TN - It's going to take more than inclement weather to stop Lincoln Memorial and Coker from meeting up on the field on Friday. In the wake of hurricane Helene, the Railsplitters will travel to Hartsville, SC on Friday, seeking their first ever conference win against the Coker Cobras. Lincoln Memorial has played very well this season, even playing a top 10 nationally ranked opponent to within one goal--twice, both at home and on the road. The Railsplitters are faced with a very winnable game against the Cobras.

Both Lincoln Memorial and Coker have yet to win a game on the season. However, a look at common opponents favors the Railsplitters. Lincoln Memorial opened the season with a 2-1 loss on the road at Lander. Coker fell 5-0 to Lander on Sep. 24. The Railsplitters also played then-7th-ranked Mount Olive to within one goal in back-to-back games, falling 0-1 at home and 2-1 on the road. The Cobras dropped a 5-0 decision on the road at Mount Olive on Sep. 14.

Friday's game is slated to begin at 6:00 PM in Hartsville, but is subject to change with the ever changing weather as hurricane Helene inevitably makes landfall on Thursday night in the Gulf of Mexico, affecting the entire southeast.
