Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team will have their home opener against Quincy Saturday afternoon, where they are seeking their 5th consecutive win of the season.
This match will only be their 8th time in series history facing each other, where the Railsplitters are winning the series 4-3. Their most recent match up was in March of 2024 where they swept the Hawks 3-0. Their last time facing each other in Harrogate was in March of 2019, where LMU swept the match in 3.
The Railsplitters are coming off of a 3-1 win against the University of Charleston.
Axel van Baars tallied double-digit kills with 15.
Matthew Gentry led in two categories: service aces and blocks, posting 3 service aces and 4 blocks on the afternoon.
John Luers registered a season-high in kills with 44, and
Zadyn Labreche was the game-leader in digs with 11.
Vann Baars is the team-leader in kills on the season so far, averaging 2.73 kills per set for an attack percentage of 0.319. Luers is leading in assists with 160 assists on the season for an average of 10.67 assists per set. Labreche is tallying almost 2 digs per set, sitting at 1.80 digs per set. Gentry is leading the team in blocks with 20 total blocks, 10 solo blocks and 10 block assists.
The Hawks are coming off of a 1-3 loss against Tusculum.
The Railsplitters are currently on a 4-game winning streak. In the most recent AVCA National Collegitate Men's Volleyball Poll that was released January 20th, Lincoln Memorial was still receiving votes. Gentry was this week's IVA Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Quincy is in the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, and their current record is 2-1. They have not started conference play.
The match is set to start at 2 pm in Mary Mars Gymnasium.
