Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team is slated for a mid-week match up with rival Carson-Newman on Wednesday. The Railsplitters and Eagles were both picked to finish atop the South Atlantic Conference in preseason polls. Currently, Lincoln Memorial is in second place in conference standings with a 7-1 conference record, while Carson-Newman sits at fourth in the conference with a 6-4 conference record.
Sophomore
Wes Enis leads Lincoln Memorial in scoring, averaging 20.5 points-per-game, good for second in the conference. He is also sixth in the conference in three point percentage, shooting a 45% clip from long range. Freshman
Elyjah Freeman has made his presence felt throughout the conference throughout the season thus far as well, ranking sixth in the conference in rebounding (7.7 RPG) and fifth in the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 65% from the floor.
Lincoln Memorial's offense features nearly five players averaging double figures per game. As previously mentioned, Enis leads the team in scoring with 20.5 points-per-game. He is followed by Freeman with 15.8 points-per-game and 7.7 rebounds-per-game. Freshman
EJ Smith is averaging 11.5 points-per-game and 3.2 assists-per-game.
Jordan Walters is averaging 9.7 points and 5.8 rebounds-per-game.
Osmar Garcia-Araujo is right on the cusp of averaging double figures with 9.2 points-per-game.
The Railsplitters are averaging 83 points-per-game while holding their opposition to an average of 73.5 points-per-game, good for an average 9.5 point margin of victory. Lincoln Memorial will be tasked with stopping Carson-Newman's potent offense, headlined by Jack Browder who leads the conference in points-per-game and rebounds-per-game, that averages 88.7 points-per-game. However, Carson-Newman is allowing an average of 84.8 points-per-game as well. Five Eagles average double figures. Browder leads the team in scoring with 21.6 points-per-game, followed by John Zhao, who averages 18 points-per-game. Trey Hubbard averages 15.1 points-per-game and Nick Brenegan averages 14.2 points-per-game.
