Greeneville, TN – The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team falls to the Tusculum Pioneers Wednesday evening.
The Pioneers began firing shots right away as they took a shot 18 seconds into the match, giving
Daniel Benedek Miklosi his first save.
LMU had a couple of opportunities to get a goal on the board in the next 18 minutes, but all of their attempts were off target.
In the 18
th minute, Tusculum's Peres scored with the assist coming from Le Floch to make the score 0-1 with the Pioneers in the lead.
The Railsplitter's first goal opportunity came in the 27
th minute, as
Enrique Martin fired a shot in the 27
th minute, saved, followed by a couple of shots that were wide.
Tucsulum's last attempt of the half to extend the lead was in the 44
th minute, which was saved by Miklosi. The score going into the second half was 0-1 with the Pioneers holding the advantage.
Lincoln Memorial's first shot opportunity of the second half tied up the match, as in the 57
th minute,
Thomas Chao crossed the ball from the right of the 18-yard box,
Botond Skulka took a shot in which the keeper saved but didn't hold on to, leaving Damain Saccento to take advantage of the rebound as he put the ball in the back of the net to the up the match 1-1.
A couple of LMU off frame shots are followed by a shot on goal by Martin in the 68
th minute, saved.
Tusculum took back the lead in the 75
th minute as Le Floch scored.
The Railsplitters continued to fight back, with Skulka taking a saved shot in the 80
th minute, and another one in the 89
th minute. The final score would end with Tusculum taking the win 2-1.
Saccento had the lone goal of the match for LMU and Skulka tallied the assist. Sulka led
the team in shots with four, and Skulka and Martin both were team-leaders in shots on goal with two. Benedek Miklosi played all 90 minutes and recorded two saves.
As a team, LMU recorded 13 shots, with five on frame, two saves, and four corner kicks.
With the loss, the Railsplitters move to 2-5-1 overall and 2-1-1 in SAC play, and the Pioneers move to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Lincoln Memorial's next match will be on the road on Saturday as they travel to Wingate, NC to face Wingate at 1 pm.
