Wingate, NC - The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team falls to the Wingate Bulldogs 0-1 Saturday afternoon.
The first ten minutes of the match were quiet, as the first shot on goal opportunity of the match didn't come until the 12th minute, when
Gian-Carlo Kama fired a shot, which was saved.
Both teams took some shots off frame, but Wingate's first shot on target was in the 24th minute, saved by
Daniel Benedek Miklosi. The Bulldogs' next shot resulted in a goal when Wingate's Rudi scored, making the score 0-1 with Wingate in the lead.
Lincoln Memorial was not able to get any more shots on frame in the first half, leaving the score 0-1 with the Bulldogs having the advantage.
The Railsplitters came out with some urgency in the second half, as LMU posted back-to-back shots on frame in the 49th and 52nd minute, with the first by Kama and the second by Botund Skulka, both saved.
Wingate responded with two shots in a row in the 63rd and 64th minute, giving Benedek Miklosi two saves.
Some off shots were attempted by both squads throughout the remainder of the match, but none were on target.
With that being the last shot opportunity, Wingate came out with the win 0-1.
Kama led the team in shots with six and in shots on goal with two. Benedek Miklosi recorded three saves on the afternoon.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial registered 12 shots, with four on frame, four saves, and eight corner kicks.
With the loss, LMU moves to 2-6-1 overall and 2-2-1 in conference and Wingate moves to 2-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the SAC.
Their next match up will be in a week as they play at home on Saturday, October 11th as they face Newberry at 5:30 pm.
