Harrogate, TN - Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) will induct four into the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 11, during a ceremony at Tex Turner Arena at 10 a.m. as part of LMU Homecoming. This year's Hall of Fame class includes
Travis Muncy (Golf), Benny Collins (Tennis),
Adam Golia (Men's Lacrosse), and Brittany (McCown) Simms (Women's Golf).
Travis Muncy - Men's and Women's Golf Coach and Current Director of Athletics
During his tenure, he has elevated both programs to national prominence, highlighted by the men's runner-up finish at the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship and a No. 1 national ranking in fall 2021.
A five-time South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Coach of the Year, Muncy led the men's team to four SAC titles and seven straight NCAA regional appearances. He also coached seven SAC Players of the Year, three SAC Freshmen of the Year, and two National Player of the Year finalists. On the women's side, he guided the program to consistent top-five SAC finishes, including 10 of his last 12 seasons.
Over his career, Muncy has produced 11 All-Americans and earned two Southeast Region Coach of the Year honors. Before transitioning full-time to collegiate coaching in 2009, he served as Director of Golf Operations at Woodlake Golf Club and received multiple PGA professional awards, including Head Professional of the Year and the Horton Smith Award.
A former collegiate golfer at Edison College, Muncy competed professionally on the Hogan Tour. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration (1998) and an MBA (2007), both from LMU.
Muncy was promoted in February of 2024 to Director of Athletics at LMU
where he continues to bring valuable insight and leadership.
Benny Collins - Men's and Women's Tennis Coach
Benny Collins, a native of Middlesboro, Ky., served as head coach for both the men's and
women's tennis teams at Lincoln Memorial University from 2008 to 2019. During his team
coaching, he was one of the longest tenured coaches on staff.
After taking over programs that had seen a decline, Collins rebuilt them into consistent contenders in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC), compiling an 87-35 record with the men and 76-42 with the women. Collins had a rebuilding fi rst season in 2008-09, where he led both teams to a remarkable turnaround in 2009-10, winning the SAC regular-season and tournament championships. He earned SAC Coach of the Year honors for both men's and women's teams, becoming only the second coach in conference history to do so in the same season.
Under his leadership, he valued both performance on the court as well as in the classroom. The Lady Railsplitters received the LMU Athletics Team Academic Award for the highest GPA on campus for multiple years.
Prior to LMU, Collins coached at Middlesboro High School from 2000 to 2008, where he posted a 153-18 record with the girls' team, capturing five regional titles, and a 109-37 record with the boys' team, including two regional runner-up finishes.
Adam Golia - Men's Lacrosse (Class of 2016)
Adam Golia becomes the first men's lacrosse student athlete to be inducted into the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame. The attacker from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada was a force for the Railsplitters from 2014-2018.
Golia's capstone season was as a senior in 2018. He opened the 2018 campaign by shattering the program record for points while also breaking the program record for goals (nine goals and four assists). This happened just fi ve days aft er setting the program points record with five goals and four assists and being selected as the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. He would go on to be named AstroTurf SAC
Player of the Week again during his senior season. While attending LMU, Golia made the SAC first team and the SAC second team for his hard work and talent.
Brittany Simms - Women's Golf (Class of 2013)
Brittany McCown Simms of Sevierville, Tennessee becomes just the second Lady Railsplitter from women's golf to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
Simms was a standout on the women's golf team from 2009-2013. Simms had an impressive career while golfing with the Railsplitter women's golf team. She held excellent stats for individual scoring in her career, like holding the 2nd-best scoring average 2009-13 (79.8) and 2nd-best win-loss percentage 2009-13 (0.78). While on the team, her lowest round of golf was a score of 70. Throughout the years, she finished top 1 (1), top 5 (9), and top 10 (19) at over 38 events. In 2012 and 2013, Simms was placed on the SAC Conference Championship All-Tournament Second Team.
