Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team defeats the Carson-Newman Eagles in a thrilling Wednesday night maatch 4-3.
Both teams got on the attack for the first 15 minutes as they both fired off shots, but they were either blocked or off target.
LMU's first attempt at goal resulted in a goal in the 15th minute.
Szymon Sokolnicki lobbed the ball to a C-N defender, which was meant to go to
Gian-Carlo Kama at the top of the arch of the 18-yard box. Kama fought back and took the ball from the Eagle and fired a shot to the right side of the net to give Lincoln Memorial the 1-0 lead.
The Eagles equalized the march by scoring a goal four minutes later in the19th minute, as it was scored by Pascal.
Daniel Benedek Miklosi earned his first save of the night in the 30th minute by a Carson-Newman shot.
Throughout the remainder of the half, only blocked or off frame shots were taken by either team, making the score tied at 1-1 going into halftime.
After a blocked Railsplitter shot in the 50th minute, Carson-Newman's Torrent scored their second goal of the evening to take the lead for the first time.
C-N's lead fired up the Railsplitters as they came out aggressive offensively by scoring the equalizer in the 57th minute.
Ronan O'Mahony Blondel took a corner kick in which the Eagle goalkeeper grabbed, but dropped right in front of
Paul Yu who tapped the ball into the bottom right of the net to tie up the match for the second time 2-2.
The only shots on target for ether team up to this point have resulted in a goal, and that continued with Carson-Newman securing back the lead in the 69th minute by Torrent.
The back-and-forth scoring continued, as the next player to score would be Lincoln Memorial's Kama with the brace. A corner kick is taken in the 74th minute, which gets juggled in the box by both teams, but eventually gets to the feet of Kama who slides the ball past the keeper to tie up the match once again 3-3.
C-N responded with a attempt on goal in the 74th minute, forcing Benedek Miklosi to make a save.
Not too long after LMU's third goal, Botund Skulka launched the ball from their defensive midfield to Kama, who was running alongside the Eagle back line. Kama got through the defense and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper of Carson-Newman to regain the lead in the 79th minute 4-3.
Lincoln Memorial was successful for the remainder of the half to limit Carson-Newman's scoring opportunities, as the Eagles only got one shot off, but was off target.
The final score of the back-and-forth battle would be 4-3 with the Railsplitters earning the win.
Kama had an exciting night as he recorded a hat trick for the Railsplitters, and
Paul Yu also added his first career goal. Kama was also the team leader in shots and shots on goal, with four and three, respectively. Benedek Miklosi recorded one save on the evening.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial posted 13 shots, with four being on target, one save, and sive corner kicks.
With the win, LMU improve to 5-7-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play, and C-N drops to 1-8-3 overall and 1-5-1 in conference play.
The Railsplitter's next match will be on Tuesday, October 28th as they travel to Anderson, SC to face Anderson at 7 pm.
