Men's Soccer Hands Anderson Their First Loss Of The Season With 1-0 Victory

Anderson, SC – The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team hands the #5 Anderson Trojans their first loss of the season with a 1-0 victory Tuesday evening.

It was an even first half, as possession was evenly split and attempts went wide. Gian-Carlo Kama registered the first shot on target in the 41st minute, but it was stopped by the goalkeeper.

The Railsplitters' defense limited the Trojans to no shots on goal, keeping the score 0-0 at halftime.

The second half was quite different, as Anderson started creating scoring chances early as the Trojans fired off their first two attempts in the 49th and 50th minutes, which forced Daniel Benedek Milklosi to make his first two saves of the evening.

LMU responded quickly with Thomas Chao sent a shot one minute later in the 52st minute, saved.

Ten minutes later, Benedek Miklosi recorded his third save of the match with another Anderson shot.

In the 64th minute, Flip Jeppesen passed the ball to Enrique Martin at the corner of the 18-yard box, and Martin slotted the ball perfectly out of the goalkeeper's reach in the bottom left corner to give Lincoln Memorial the 1-0 lead.

Anderson attempted to tie things up in the 74th minute with another shot but was handled by Benedek Miklosi. LMU continued to apply pressure offensively as Paul Yu fired a shot but was saved.

The last attempt of the match was by the Trojans in the 79th minute but was an easy save for Benedek Miklosi.

The Railsplitters handed #4 Anderson their first loss of the season with a 1-0 victory.

Martin recorded the lone goal of the match for Lincoln Memorial, and he and Yu both led the team with two shots. Benedek Miklosi registered five saves and a shutout.

As a team, LMU tallied ten shots, with four being on goal, one corner kick, and five saves.

With the win, the Railsplitters improve to 6-7-1 overall and 6-2-1 in conference play, and Anderson falls to 8-1-4 overall and 5-1-2 in conference play.

Their next match will be the regular season finale against Emory & Henry on Wednesday, November 5th in Emory, VA at 2 pm.
