Men's Soccer Battles Back With A Late Goal To Tie Emory & Henry

Emory, VA – Lincoln Memorial men's soccer draws to the Emory & Henry Wasps Wednesday evening 1-1.

E&H started to produce scoring opportunities early, as their first shot was in the 3rd minute, but was easily handled by goalkeeper Daniel Benedek Miklosi.

13 minutes later in the 16th minute, the Railsplitters had their first close attempt at goal as Botond Skulka's shot hit the crossbar.

Possession was back and forth for the next 26 minutes, until the Wasps took the last shot of the half in the 42nd minute, forcing Benedek Miklosi to make a save. The score going into the second half remained at 0-0.

The first chance that either team had was in the 55th minute, when Emory & Henry took a shot, which hit the post.

Thomas Chao took the Railsplitters' first two shots of the half in the 69th and 70th minutes, with the first shot saved and the second hitting the crossbar.

Later in the 76th minute, Antonio Talavera had a chance on goal, which was collected by the Wasp goalkeeper.

Two shots were taken in the 86th and 87th minute by Ronan O'Mahony Blondel and Enrique Martin, respectively, both saved.

With 20 seconds left in the match, Emory & Henry scored with the goal being scored by Eyidi and the assist from Serwy to make the score 1-0.

If the match couldn't get more intense, with just two seconds left in the match, Chao passed the ball through to Talavera, who slots the ball into the goal to equalize the match at 1-1.

Talavera scored the lone goal for the Railsplitters and Chao tallied the assist. Chao led in shots with three, and Talavera was the team-leader in shots on goal with two. Benedek Miklosi earned two saves on the evening.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded 12 shots, with five being on goal, two saves, and four corner kicks.

LMU moves to 6-7-2 overall and 6-2-2 in conference play, while Emory & Henry moves to 7-3-5 overall and 6-1-3 in conference play.

Lincoln Memorial will host a quarterfinal match in the SAC Tournament on Sunday, November 9th at 3 pm at LMU Lacrosse Complex, with the opponent to be announced when the bracket is finalized.
