Bluefield, WV - The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team travels to Bluefield, WV to face the Bluefield State Big Blue on Wednesday at 6 pm.
There is a short history between the two teams, as Wednesday's contest is only the second time they will have faced off against each other. In the first meeting between the Railsplitters and the Big Blue, which was in Harrogate, Lincoln Memorial defeated Bluefield State 4-0.
LMU is looking to bounce back as they are coming off of a 4-2 loss against Wingate on October 4th.
Ellie Snyder scored in the 48th minute, and
Jade Brown scored off of a
Mary Eunice assist in the 84th minute.
Currently,
Paige Branam is leading the team in points with 12, accounting for five goals and two assists. Snyder follows with eight points for four goals.
Viktoria Filsner is the team-leader in shots with 20, and Filsner and Snyder tie in leading in shots on goal with 11 each. Goalkeeper
Emma Cooke has registered 47 saves on the season so far.
In the South Atlantic Conference, Filsner is 5th in total assists (4). Branam is 4th in the conference in game-winning goals (2), 4th in goals per game (0.63), 5th in points per game (1.50), 4th in total goals (5) , and 5th in total points (12). Cooke is 1st in the conference in saves per game (4.70), 2nd in shutouts (4), and 1st in total saves (47).
Nationally, Cooke is 23rd in total saves.
As a team, LMU is 2nd in saves per game (5), and 4th in corner kicks per game (5.50).
Bluefield State is coming off of a 0-0 tie against Carolina University on October 1st.
The Railsplitters are entering Wednesday with a 4-4-2 overall record and a conference record of 1-3-1. In the SAC, LMU is 7th place in the standings.
The Big Blue are going into the midweek contest with a 2-5-1 overall record. Bluefield State women's soccer is not in a conference as they are Independent.
