Women's Basketball Battles To Defeat Ranked North Georgia

Dahlonega, GA – Lincoln Memorial women's basketball's win streak stays alive as they defeat #14 the North Georgia Nighthawks Friday evening 50-51.

Lincoln Memorial took control of the game in the first quarter, as they kept the lead for first six minutes of the quarter, but took the lead back with two and a half minutes remaining.
As the Lady Railsplitters forced the Nighthawks to five turnovers and scored seven points off those turnovers, LMU ultimately took the lead going into the second quarter 11-13.

The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle, as there were nine lead changes throughout the quarter. Despite LMU scoring more second chance points and points in the paint, Lincoln Memorial went into halftime falling by one point 22-21.

The Lady Railsplitters came into the third quarter hungry to score, as they went on a 2-15 run in the first five minutes of the quarter. LMU landed above 50% in from the field and the three, with a 53.8% from the field and 75% from behind the three, giving LMU the lead going into the final quarter 31-39.

North Georgia slowly crept their way back to just a three-point deficit with six minutes remaining, but Lincoln Memorial remained calm and continued to put points on the board to keep the lead. With one minute remaining, UNG brought it back to a one-point game 50-51. LMU battled the last minute of the game and didn't allow the Nighthawks to score to secure the win over #14 North Georgia 50-51.

Kamil Collier led the Lady Railsplitters tonight in scoring with 15 points, with Lexi Patty right behind her with 13 points. Asia Barr also added double-digits with ten points. Keiara Anderson followed with seven points. Alexa Smiddy and Maleiya Hill rounded out the scoring for LMU with four and two points, respectively. Four players led in rebounds as Collier, Patty, Anderson, and Smiddy all recorded six rebounds each, followed by Hill with the last two rebounds for LMU. Smiddy also led in assists with six on the night along with tallying the only block of the game for Lincoln Memorial.

As a team, the Lady Railsplitters were 33.9% from the field, 29.4% from the three, and 6/8 from the charity stripe. They were out rebounded by UNG 38-33, but recorded more offensive rebounds 7-9.

Turnovers were a big factor to Lincoln Memorial's win, as UNG recorded 18 turnovers and LMU only tallied 12, with Lincoln Memorial adding 19 points off of Nighthawk turnovers.

For Lincoln Memorial, 26 points came from the paint, nine points came form second chances, and two points came from the bench.

With the win, Lincoln Memorial improves to a 3-0 overall record and North Georgia drops to 3-3 overall.

The Lady Railspitters have a short break as they play in less then 24 hours, as they face Clayton State in Day 2 of the UNG Nighthawk Classic tomorrow, November 22nd at 2 pm.
