Field hockey slated for first conference tournament in program history Tuesday

Harrogate, TN - It's all lead to this. Following the best season to-date in program history, the Lincoln Memorial field hockey team is gearing up for its first ever conference tournament game, traveling to Greenwood, SC to take on the 3rd-seeded Lander Bearcats in the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament on Tuesday. The Railsplitters wrapped up the regular season on Halloween with a 2-1 victory at home over the Converse Valkyries. Lincoln Memorial finished the regular season with an overall record of 6-11 with a 3-7 mark in conference play, earning the 6-seed in the tournament. Lander has maintained a top-10 ranking for the vast majority of the season, finishing the regular season with an overall record of 13-3 with a 7-3 mark in conference action. 

The Bearcats took both games against the Railsplitters this season. Lander took a decisive 5-1 victory at home early in the season before escaping Harrogate with a narrow one-goal victory later in the season. Lincoln Memorial closed the season with back-to-back victories, gaining momentum heading into the tournament. Throughout the season, the Railsplitters broke various program and individual records en route to the post season. 

On the season, The Railsplitters are led in scoring by Jolie Plaisier with five goals on the season, with one assist, totaling 11 points. She is followed by Jimena Loustalot with four goals and a team-leading four assists, totaling 12 points on the season. Olivia Rosini, who became Lincoln Memorial's all-time leading career goal scorer against Barton, follows with three goals and an assist on the season, totaling seven points. Lise Holla worked her way up the scoring list in the final regular season game with two goals. She's also added three assists on the year, totaling seven points on the season. Guadalupe Montaldo has three assists on the season, adding a goal against Barton, totaling five points on the year. Kelsey Beauchamp and Lainey Hockersmith have added a goal and an assist each on the season, totaling three points each.  Newcomer Naomi Spangler has two goals on the season, good for four points. Goalkeeper Cayla Wiggins leads the South Atlantic Conference in saves with 113 on the season, 34 more than the second place goalkeeper in the conference.
