Salisbury, NC – Lincoln Memorial women's soccer end their run in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament as they drop the quarterfinal match to the #1 seed Catawba Indians 5-1.
The Catawba Indians began aggressive on the attack as they put two shots off in the first minute, with the first being blocked and the second hitting the crossbar.
Viktoria Filsner took the first shot for the Railsplitters in the 11
th minute, but was blocked
Emma Cooke would earn her first save of the match in the 26
th minute.
Catawba got the lead in the 33
rd minute as Rayburn scored.
Not even a minute later in the 34
th minute,
Camden Prosser runs down the right flank and crosses the ball to
Kenzie Zimmers, who heads the ball in the net to equalize the match 1-1.
The Catawba Indian's next shot on goal would gain the lead back, as in the 41
st minute Claret scored with the assist coming from Vestergaard. With that being the last close attempt for either team, they went into halftime with Catawba in the lead 2-1.
Possession juggled for the first seven minutes of the half, with Catawba getting the first scoring opportunity of the half in the 52
nd minute but was handled by Cooke.
Shortly after in the 54
th minute, the Catawba Indians extended their lead 3-1 with a goal by Delair with Ehmer getting the assist.
Catawba continued their run in the 61
st minute with another goal, scored by Emher, to make the lead 4-1.
The next shot on frame would be in the 67
th minute by Catawba, but Cooke forced the save.
Several shots were fired by the Railsplitters but were off target.
The Catawba lead was lengthened in the 76
th minute to 5-1, as Grono scored. They also took a shot in the 84
th minute, which a saved by Cooke.
Lincoln Memorial had several attempts to get another goal, but the attempts were off frame. The final score was 5-1 with Catawba taking the win.
Zimmers had the only goal for the Railsplitters, while Prosser tallied the assist. Zimmers also led in shots with two shots and had one shot on goal, and
Ellie Snyder recorded the other shot on goal for LMU. Cooke recorded four saves.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded ten shots, with two being on goal, four saves, and two corner kicks.
The Railsplitters end their season with a 8-6-4 overall record.
Snyder led the team in points with 13 (four goals, five assists). She was followed by
Paige Branam with 12 points (team-leading five goals, two assists), Filsner with 11 points (two goals, team-leading seven assists).
Jade Brown followed with eight points (three goals, two assists);
Donna van der Zalm and
Edie Wilds with six points (three goals each);
Hannah Stafford (one goal, three assists) and
Camden Prosser (two goals, one assist) with five points; and
Riley Miller,

Maiara Windszus Pessanha with four points (two goals each).
Sophia Berglund finished the season with two points (one goal); and
Gabby Barnes,
Mary Eunice,
Ava Garrett,
Maya Patel, and
Lieve Schiphof all had one point (one assist each). Cooke finished the season playing every minute for LMU (1,620) and recorded 73 saves for a 71.6 save percentage.
