Lincoln Memorial's smothering defense, potent offense leads to rout of Wingate at home

Harrogate, TN -- Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball delivered a complete performance on both ends of the floor, rolling past Wingate 97–62 behind efficient shooting, balanced scoring, and a suffocating defensive effort.

The Railsplitters held Wingate to just 33.3 percent shooting from the field (20-of-60) and forced 23 Bulldog turnovers, consistently disrupting offensive flow with active hands and disciplined rotations. Lincoln Memorial also limited Wingate to 24 total rebounds, cutting off second-chance opportunities and controlling the tempo throughout the contest.

Offensively, Lincoln Memorial shot 57.8 percent from the floor and an impressive 93.8 percent from the free throw line, scoring 50 second-half points while shooting 63.3 percent after the break.

Walter Campbell led all scorers with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting and a perfect 5-for-5 effort at the foul line. He added six rebounds and three assists to pace a balanced Railsplitter attack. EJ Smith and Jayden Spearman each scored 12 points, with Smith going 5-of-8 from the field and Spearman knocking down four three-pointers to stretch the defense.

Yassin Hussein posted a strong all-around performance with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds, providing interior presence on both ends. Emmanuel James was flawless from the field, finishing with eight points on 3-of-3 shooting while adding four rebounds and two assists in just 17 minutes, including a handful of high-flying blocks and dunks.

Nate Mims and Armon Jarrard each chipped in nine points, while Ashton Pennamon added seven points and a game-high four assists. Grace Aluma was perfect from the floor as well, scoring seven points on 3-of-3 shooting and connecting on a three-pointer.

Lincoln Memorial finished the night with 20 assists on 37 made baskets, showcasing unselfish ball movement that consistently punished Wingate's defensive breakdowns. On the defensive end, the Railsplitters forced Wingate into difficult shots inside the arc and six turnovers from the Bulldogs' primary ball handler, preventing any sustained momentum.

With contributions throughout the lineup and a dominant defensive showing, Lincoln Memorial showcased its depth and efficiency in the decisive victory over Wingate to improve to 5-4 overall with a 2-2 mark in conference play, marking back-to-back conference victories at home. The Railsplitters will look to extend their winning streak to three games at home against Emory & Henry on Wednesday, with tip-off slated for 7:30 PM.
