Men's Volleyball Set To Host Tusculum On Wednesday and Lees-McRae On Thursday

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team will host two games this week: Tusculum on Wednesday, February 12th at 6 pm and Lees-McRae on Thursday, February 13th at 6 pm in Mary Mars Gymnasium.

The Railsplitters are coming off of a 3-1 win against Concordia University Irvine. Johan Negron led the game with double-digit kills with 12, and Matthew Gentry had 9 kills and 0 errors for a .818 attack percentage. John Luers was the game-leader in assists with 38, and Gentry and Eliel Salva Torres both led the night in total blocks with 3 each. Luers was also the game-leader in digs, tallying 10 on the night.

Offensively, Axel van Baars is leading on the season in kills with 102 kills for an average of 2.83 kills per set for an attack percentage of .272. Gentry currently has the highest attack percentage with 92 kills and 12 errors for a percentage of .567. Luers is the team-leader in assists with 364, registering double-digit assists per set with 10.11. Defensively, Tate Colebaugh and Luers are tied for the leading position in digs, both recording 71 digs on the season for an average of 1.97 digs per set. Gentry, Salva Torres, and Ethan Morgan are all averaging just over 1 block per set, with Gentry tallying 1.06 block per set, Salva Torres recording 1.09 blocks per set, and Morgan averaging 1 block per set.

Nationally, Luers is 12th in the nation in assists per set with 10.11. Salva Torres is within the top 25 in blocks per set, sitting in 20th with 1.094 blocks per set. Gentry has the second highest attack percentage in the nation with his over 50% attack percentage, .567

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is sitting in 13th nationally for blocks per set, averaging 2.444 blocks per set. They are also 6th in the nation in digs per set with 10.00, 22nd in attack percentage with .274, and 6th in W/L percentage with .889.

Currently in the IVA standings, the Railsplitters are sitting in 1st place with a 8-1 record and a .889 winning percentage. Luers was named this week's IVA Defensive Player of the Week. In the most recent AVCA Poll that was released February 10th, LMU was ranked #17, two places away from their highest ranking in program history.

LMU vs Tusculum:
Lincoln Memorial will be facing Tusculum on Wednesday, February 12th at 6 pm in Mary Mars Gymnasium.

This will be the 12th time that the two teams will be facing each other, with LMU sweeping the series 11-0. LMU has defeated the pioneers 3-0 in every match played except for the match played in February of 2021, where the result was a 3-2 Railsplitter win.

Tusculum is also in the IVA, and they are tied for 5th in the rankings with a 4-7 record and a .364 winning percentage.

The Theme for Wednesday's match is Neon night.

LMU vs Lees-McRae:
Lincoln Memorial will be facing Lees-McRae on Thursday, February 13th at 6 pm in Mary Mars Gymnasium.

This will be the 8th time that LMU and Lees-McRae will be facing each other, with Lincoln Memorial winning the series 6-1. Their most recent match up was in Harrogate in February of 2024, where the Railsplitters swept the game in 3 sets, 3-0.

The Bobcats are in the Conference Carolinas, and are currently sitting in 8th place with a0-2 conference record and a 0-9 overall record.

The theme for Thursday's match is Country Night.
