Women's Lacrosse Faces #1 Tampa At Home Thursday

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team will face the reigning Division 2 national champions, the #1 University of Tampa Spartans, Thursday evening at LMU Lacrosse Complex at 5 pm.

Thursday's match up will be the second time in series history that the two teams will face each other. In the first meeting, which was in February of 2023, Tampa defeated the Railsplitters 4-18.
Lincoln Memorial is coming off of a 14-6 win against North Greenville. In this match, Josie Tinnerello would tie the program record for number of goals scored in a single game by a player while also tying her career-high with 9 goals, and head coach Alyssa Shaver would break the record for number of wins as a head coach with 33 wins. Tinnerello had the team-high 9 goals, while Amber Kirkpatrick was the team-leader in assists with 5. Keegan Gillman recorded team-high 5 ground balls and also earned herself 6 saves on the match. Delaney Duck had the team-high in caused-turnovers with 4, and Jalee Davis led in draw controls with 4.

In the South Atlantic Conference, Kirkpatrick is leading in assists with 13, 1st in assists per game with 3.25, 3rd in points with 20, and 2nd in points per game with 5. Tinnerello is 3rd in the conference in assists with 8, 4th in assists per game with 2, 1st in goals with 18, 1st in goals per game with 4.50, 1st in points with 26, 1st in points per game with 6.50, 3rd in shots per game with 8, and 3rd in shots on goal per game with 6.50. McKenzie Cates is tied for 8th in assists per game with 1 with Jaiden Jaynes, and 7th in free-position percentage with .500. Duck is ranked 3rd in the conference in caused turnovers per game with 2.50, and Jaedyn Ryba is ranked 9th in caused turnovers per game with 1.50. Samantha Billingsley and  Jalee Davis are tied for 8th in the SAC in draw controls per game with 3. Gillman is 4th in the conference in save percentage with 45%, 7th in saves with 27, and 10th in saves per game with 6.75.

Nationally, Kirkpatrick is ranked 4th in assists with 13, 11th in assists per game with 3.25, and 11th in points with 20. Tinnerello is 3rd in the nation in goals with 18, 4th in points with 26, and 13th in points per game with 6.50.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is ranked 1st in the conference (11th nationally) in assists per game with 9, 2nd in caused turnovers per game with 12.50, 3rd in clearing percentage with 83.6%, 4th in ground balls per game with 18.75, 1st (16 nationally) in points per game with 23.75, 4th in scoring margin with 5.25, 2nd in scoring offense with 14.75, 3rd (16th nationally) in shot percentage with .504, 4th in shots per game with 29.5, and 2nd in win percentage with 75%.

Tampa is coming off of a 20-6 win against #3 Adelphi.

Lincoln Memorial's record is 3-1 and has not started South Atlantic Conference play. The Spartans have a 3-0 record and they are in the Sunshine State Conference, and they have also not started conference play. In the most recent Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division 2 Coaches Poll, which was released on February 24th, Tampa was ranked #1.
