Men's Volleyball Travels To New Jersey For Pair Of Matches This Weekend

Princeton, NJ & Newark, NJ – The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team will travel to New Jersey for a pair of matches this weekend as they face Princeton in Princeton, NJ on March 1st at 4 pm and the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ on March 2nd at 1 pm.

The Railsplitters are coming off of a 3-0 win against Fort Valley State University. Matthew Gentry and Johan Negron led the team in kills with 9 each, and Eliel Salva Torres posted the highest attack percentage with an 0.833 attack percentage for 5 kills and 0 errors. John Luers led the night in kills with 30. Gentry and Negron also both led the team in service aces with 4 each. Defensively, Negron and Salva Torres both led the team in blocks with 3, with Negron tallying 3 block assists and Salva Torres recording 2 block assists and 1 solo block, the only solo block from LMU the entire match. Tate Colebaugh was the team-leader in digs with 9.

Currently, Axel van Baars is leading in kills with 119 for an average of 2.70 kills/set, while Gentry has the highest attack percentage on the team with 114 kills and only 15 errors for a .572 attack percentage. Luers is nearly tallying double-digits assists per set, as he has 447 assists on the season for an average of 9.93 assists/set. Gentry is the team-leader in service aces with 18. Defensively, Luers is leading in digs on the team, with a total of 87 digs for an average of 1.93 digs/set. The block category is led by Gentry, who has 13 solo blocks and 34 block assists for a total of 47 blocks so far on the season for an average of 1.04 blocks/set.

In the IVA, Gentry is 3rd in aces per set with .400, 2nd in blocks per set with 1.044, 1st in hitting percentage with 0.572, and 7th in points per set with 3.60. Luers is 2nd in assists per set with 9.93, and 7th in digs per set with 1.93. Salva Torres is 4th in blocks per set with 1.00. Colebaugh is 10th in digs per set with 1.82, and van Baars is 7th in hitting percentage with 0.279.

Nationally, Luers is 18th in the nation in assists per set, Gentry is 22nd in blocks per set and leading the nation in hitting percentage with 0.572.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is 2nd in the IVA in aces per set with 1.38, 3rd in assists per set with 10.87, 2nd (15th nationally) in blocks per set with 2.356, 2nd (8th nationally) in digs per set with 9.76, 1st (16th nationally) in hitting percentage with 0.294, 3rd in kills per set with 11.71, 1st (4th nationally) in W/L percentage with 0.917, and 2nd (5th nationally) in opponent hitting percentage with 0.172.
LMU is currently leading the IVA with a 11-1 record and a 0.917 winning percentage.

LMU vs Princeton:
Lincoln Memorial will be facing Princeton on Saturday, March 1st in Princeton, NJ at 4 pm.

This will be the 2nd time that the two teams will be facing each other, with LMU winning the series 1-0. The first time that LMU and Princeton competed, Lincoln Memorial came out on top 3-1.

Princeton is in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, and they are currently 4th in the EIVA standings.

LMU vs NJIT:
Lincoln Memorial will be facing NJIT on Saturday, March 2nd in Newark, NJ at 1 pm.

This will be the first time in series history that the two teams will be facing each other.

NJIT is in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, and they are currently 5th in the EIVA standings.
