Cleveland, TN - Three days after completing a seven run comeback victory on the road at North Georgia, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team was back in action on Wednesday at 22nd-ranked Lee University.
Neither team was able to plate a run in the first inning, seeing the score remain 0-0 heading into the second. In the second inning, the Railsplitters struck first when
Sam Mast reached first base on a wild pitch, allowing
Alex Kowalski to cross home plate, giving Lincoln Memorial a 1-0 lead. The Flames responded with two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead into the third inning. The Railsplitters were unable to drive in another run throughout the remainder of the game. The Flames added three more runs in the seventh and eighth innings combined to secure a 5-1 victory.
Cooper Jones got the start on the mound for Lincoln Memorial, pitching 2.0 innings, allowing two hits, two runs, and one earned run with two walks and two strikeouts.
Dylan Maire pitched 3.0 innings in relief, allowing two hits, zero runs, and zero earned with one walk and one strikeout.
Aiden Carter took the mound for 1.2 innings, allowing two hits, one run, and one earned run with zero walks and two strikeouts.
Layndon Carter closed the game from the bump, pitching 1.1 innings, allowing two hits, two runs, and two earned runs with zero walks or strikeouts.
