Harrogate, TN - The cardiac kids did it again. Trailing 10-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth, the Lincoln Memorial baseball team poured on seven runs in the bottom of the ninth to steal an 11-10 victory over Quincy in game two of the three game weekend home opening series. Quincy combined for 10 runs in the second and eighth innings, but Lincoln Memorial refused to relent, exploding for seven runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to improve to 4-3 on the season.
The Railsplitters wasted no time in scoring, as
Kasten Harvey blasted a two run missile over the left field wall on the first pitch of his fist at-bat of the game to give Lincoln Memorial a quick 2-0 lead. The Hawks countered with a five run second inning to take a 5-2 lead. Harvey blasted a second rocket in the bottom of the second inning to cut the lead to 5-3 in favor of Quincy. Both offenses went stagnant from the fourth to sixth innings with no runs added to the board leaving the Hawks in control 5-3 heading into the seventh inning. After holding Quincy scoreless in the top of the seventh, Lincoln Memorial added another run when
Sam Mast drove in Harvey with a sac-fly to cut the deficit to one run, 5-4.
Things took a bleak turn for the Railsplitters in the top of the eighth as the Hawks added five runs to the board to take a commanding 10-4 lead. Lincoln Memorial failed to counter in the bottom of the eighth and all hope seemed lost. However, after holding Quincy scoreless in the top of the ninth, the Railsplitters dug deep and began to turn it on. With

Sam Mast connected on a double to center field, driving in Hall and advancing Harvey to third, cutting the lead to 10-5. On the ensuing at-bat,
Trace Simmons delivered a 2RBI single to center field, driving in Harvey and Mast to cut the score to 10-7.Â
You could feel the momentum begin to heavily favor the Railsplitters. With the bases loaded, trailing 10-7,
Ford Hallock delivered a single to right field, driving in Simmons, advancing
Archer Wong-Shasteen and
CJ Dugan into scoring position, with Lincoln Memorial now trailing narrowly, 10-8. With the bases loaded,
Collier Elkins was walked, bringing Dugan home, cutting the lead to 10-9. Hall struck out on the ensuing at-bat, seeing Harvey take the plate. Harvey was walked, bringing Wong-Shasteen to home plate, tying the game 10-10. With Hallock on third base, Quincy's pitcher delivered a passed ball, allowing Hallock to take home plate to give Lincoln Memorial a substantial comeback victory at home, 11-10.
