8th-ranked men's basketball hosts Newberry Sunday

Harrogate, TN - The 8th-ranked Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team is slated to be back on its home court just four days after downing the UVA-Wise Cavaliers, playing host to the Newberry Wolves in a rescheduled game that was originally scheduled for Nov. 23. Lincoln Memorial enters the game atop the South Atlantic Conference standings with a 17-3 overall record, including a 15-2 mark in conference play. Newberry enters the game with a 10-11 overall record, with a 7-10 mark in conference play, riding a two game winning streak with wins over Limestone and Wingate.

Lincoln Memorial saw guard Thomas Allard tally a new career-high in points scored against UVA-Wise with 21 points. Elyjah Freeman and Jordan Walters added 13 and 11 points respectively, seeing the Railsplitters finish with three players in double figures. Lincoln Memorial's offense is led by Wes Enis, who averages 20.1 points-per-game and 4.5 rebounds-per-game. He is the second leading scorer in the conference, trailing the conference's leader by only 1.1 points-per-game. He is followed in scoring by Elyjah Freeman with 17.9 points-per-game and 9.2 rebounds-per-game. He is the second-best rebounder in the conference statistically, trailing the conference leader by .4 rebounds per game. Freeman is the highest scoring and rebounding freshman in the conference, coming in at eighth in the conference in scoring and second in rebounding. EJ Smith continues to dictate the pace of the offense, averaging 10 points-per-game. Jordan Walters is on the cusp of double figures, averaging 9.7 points-per-game to go along with 6.1 rebounds and a team-leading 3.3 assists-per-game.

So far on the season, Lincoln Memorial has held every single opponent it's faced to less than its season average in points scored per game. The Railsplitters are currently third in the nation in field goal percentage and third nationally in offensive efficiency. Lincoln Memorial is ranked first in the conference in fast break points, defensive field goal percentage, free throws made per game, scoring defense, and scoring margin. Walters is 13th nationally and first in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio. Freeman is 11th nationally, and first in the conference, with 10 double-doubles on the season. He is also 22nd nationally in field goal percentage. Enis is 36th in the nation in scoring and ninth in the nation in three point field goal percentage, shooting nearly 47% from long range.
