Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial baseball team was back in action on Friday at Lamar Hennon Field, playing host to the Roosevelt Lakers for the first meeting between the schools in their respective histories.
Eli Edds was teaching a master class in pitching on Friday, and school was in session for game one of the double-header. Edds pitched a complete nine inning game, going for 9.0 IP, allowing seven hits, one run, and no earned runs while walking two and recording a season-high 12 strikeouts. He also forced six fly-outs and eight ground-outs.
The Railsplitters tallied a 3-1 victory in game one.
CJ Dugan got things started in the bottom of the third, blasting a solo shot to left field to give Lincoln Memorial a quick 1-0 lead. Roosevelt tied the game in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI single. The game became a pitcher's duel until the bottom of the eighth inning when
Alex Kowalski connected on a two RBI triple to left field, driving in
Joey LaMattina and
Caleb Jordan to bring the score to its final, 3-1, seeing Lincoln Memorial take game one of the double-header.
Game two started as a low scoring affair, but the Railsplitters' bats woke up in the sixth inning, coming from behind to secure a 6-4 victory, taking both games of the double-header. Roosevelt took control in the top of the third inning before jumping up 2-0 on the Railsplitters in the top of the fourth inning. Lincoln Memorial responded with a big fifth inning, adding three runs to take a 3-2 lead.

Austin Epperson delivered a double to drive in
Kasten Harvey, tying the game at 2-2.
Trace Simmons gave the Railsplitters their first lead of the game with a single to center field, driving in Epperson, seeing Lincoln Memorial take a 3-2 lead into the sixth inning. The Lakers knotted the game 3-3 by fouling out to deep left field in the top of the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, with two runners on base, Hagedorn ripped a no-doubter off the foul pole in left field for a three-run shot to give Lincoln Memorial a 6-3 lead heading into the final frame of the seven-inning contest. Although the Lakers added a run in the top of the seventh, they were unable to comeback, seeing the Railsplitters secure both games of the double-header, improving to 14-10 on the season.
Lincoln Memorial and Roosevelt will meet on Saturday at Lamar Hennon Field for the third game of the four-game series, with first pitch slated for 1 PM.
