Men's Volleyball Travels To Tusculum Tuesday

Greeneville, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team will travel to Greeneville, TN for a IVA match up against Tusculum University on Tuesday as they seek to extend their win streak and sweep streak. 

This will be the second time this season that LMU will face the Pioneers, as they hosted them earlier this season on February 12th, where the Railspltiters came out victorious 3-0. Lincoln Memorial is dominating the series 12-0. The last time that LMU faced Tusculum in Greeneville was in February of 2024, where they also defeated the Pioneers 3-0. 

The Railsplitters are coming off of a 3-0 sweep against King. Johan Negron and Matthew Gentry both led in kills with 9 each, as Gentry posted a .767 attack percentage and Negron tallied a .667 attack percentage. John Luers was the team-leader in assists with 37, and Negron and Eliel Salva Torres both had team-high 2 service aces. Gentry led in blocks with 3, accounting for 1 solo block and 2 block assists. Tate Colebaugh had the team-high in digs with 9.

Currently, Axel van Baars is leading the team in kills with 140 kills on the season for an average of 2.64 kills per set. Gentry has the highest attack percentage with .580 with 137 kills and only 18 errors. Luers is averaging double-digit assists per set, with 10.11 assists per set for a total of 546 assists on the season. Defensively, Luers is also leading in digs as he has 108 digs for an average of 2 digs per set. Gentry is leading in all block categories with 15 solo blocks and 43 block assists for 58 total blocks for an average of 1.07 blocks per set. 

In the IVA, Gentry is 3rd in aces per set with 0.444, 2nd in blocks per set with 1.074, 1st in attack percentage with 0.580, and 9th in points per set with 3.66. Luers is 1st in the IVA in assists per set with 10.11 and 8th in digs per set with 2. Eliel Salva Torres is 3rd in blocks per set with 1.020 and 3rd in hitting percentage with 0.455. 

Nationally, Luers is 10th in assists per set, Gentry is 1st in hitting percentage, and Salva Torres is 5th in hitting percentage. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is 4th in the iVA in aces per set with 1.43,m 3rd in assists per set with 11.09, 2nd (11th nationally) in blocks per set with 2.417, 1st (8th nationally) in digs per set with 9.65, 1st (14th nationally) in hitting percentage with 0.305, 4th in kills per set with 11.98, 1st (2nd nationally) in match win-loss percentage with 0.933, and 1st (1st nationally) in opponent hitting percentage with 0.160. 

Tusculum is coming off of a 3-2 win against Charleston. 

Lincoln Memorial's overall record is 14-1, and is standing in 1st in the IVA. The Pioneers are also in the IVA, and they have an overall record of 12-9. Tusculum is currently in 2nd in the IVA standings.
