Men's Volleyball Faces King On The Road Wednesday

Bristol, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team will travel just up the road to Bristol, TN to face the King Tornado Wednesday evening at 6 pm as they look to extend their 3-0 sweep streak to 6. 

This will be the 15th time that the two teams will be facing each other, with the Railsplitters winning the series 9-5. LMU has won the last 9 games that they have played against King, and have won on a 3-0 sweep the last 3 games.

Lincoln Memorial is coming off of a 3-0 sweep against #19 NJIT. Three players led in the kill category: Matthew GentryAxel van Baars, and Griffin Wheatley all led the afternoon in kills with 8 each, with Gentry posting the highest attack percentage with 8 kills and only 1 error for a .636 attack percentage. John Luers led in assists with 30, and Gentry tallied the only 2 service aces of the match for LMU. Luers nearly registered double-digits in digs with team-high 9. Eliel Salva Torres led in blocks with 6, accounting for 1 solo block and 5 block assists.

Offensively, Van Baars is leading in kills with 135 for a team-high of 2.70 kills per set, while Gentry is the team-leader in attack percentage of 128 kills for a 0.575 attack percentage. Luers is nearly tallying double-digit kills per set, as he is leading with 509 assists on the season for 9.98 assists per set. Gentry is also leading in service aces with 24 for 0.47 aces per set. Defensively, Luers is leading in digs with 104 digs and averaging a little over 2 digs per set with 2.04 digs per set. Gentry is leading in solo blocks with 14, wile Gentry and Salva Torres are both the team-leaders in block assists with 41 each. 

Currently, Gentry is 2nd in the IVA and 14th nationally in aces per set with 0.471, 2nd in the IVA and 15th nationally in blocks per set with 1.078, leading the IVA and leading the nation in attack percentage with 0.575, and 7th in the IVA in points per set with 3.66. Luers is 2nd in the IVA and 16th nationally in assists per set with 9.98, and 7th in the IVA and 27th nationally in digs per set with 2.04. Salva Torres is 4th in the IVA and 20th in the nation in blocks per set with 1.043, and 2nd in the IVA and 6th nationally in attack percentage with 0.455. Van Baars is 9th in the IVA in attack percentage with 0.268. 

King is coming off of a 1-3 loss against Belmont Abbey. 

Lincoln Memorial's overall record is 13-1, and is standing in 1st in the IVA. The Tornado are in the Conference Carolinas, and they have an overall record of 2-13 and a conference record of 2-6, and they are currently 7th in the CC standings.
