Women's Lacrosse Travels To Newberry Saturday

Newberry, SC - The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team seeks their 5th conference win of the season as they travel to Newberry, SC to face he Newberry Wolves on Saturday, April 19th at 12 pm.

Saturday's match will be the 10th meeting between the two teams, with the Wolves winning the series 4-5. Their most recent match was at home last season in April of 2024, where the Railsplitters fell 8-11. The last time they played in Newberry was in March of 2023, and Newberry came out victorious 8-16. LMU's last win was in April of 2022, where they defeated the Wolves 10-9. 

Lincoln Memorial is coming off of a 7-11 loss against UVA Wise. Briana Martinez, Abby Durkin, and Breanna Booth all led with 3 points each as Martinez scored 3 goals,  Durkin added 2 goals and 1 assist, and Booth tallied 3 assists. McKenzie Cates was the team-leader in ground balls with 3, and Samantha Billingsley had the team-high in caused turnovers and draw controls with 2 caused turnovers and 5 draw controls. Keegan Gillman and Elle Miller both got time in goal, as Gillman earned 7 saves and Miller recorded 2. 

Currently, Josie Tinnerello is the team-leader in points with 66 for team-high 54 goals and 12 assists, followed by Amber Kirkpatrick with 28 goals and team-high 27 assists. Billingsley is leading in ground balls and draw controls with 31 ground balls and 48 draw controls, with Delaney Duck leading in caused turnovers with 21. 

In the SAC, Tinnerello is 13th in free position goals per game (0.57), 1st in goals (54), 1st in goals per game (3.86), 1st in points (66), 2nd in points per game (4.71), 2nd in shots per game (7.43) and 2nd in shots on goal per game (5.50). Kirkpatrick is 3rd in the conference in assists (27), 4th in assists per game (1.80), 7th in points (55), and 9th in points per game (3.37). Booth is 13th in the SAC in assists (14) and 12th in assists per game (1.00). Duck is 7th in the conference in caused turnovers per game (1.75) and 9th in ground balls per game (2.33). Billingsley is 15h in the SAC in caused turnovers per game (1.33) and 8th in draw controls per game (3.20). Jalee Davis is 11th in draw controls per game (2.93).

Nationally, Kirkpatrick is 28th in assists. Tinnerello is 17th in the nation in goals, 17th in goals per game, and 29th in shots per game. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is 4th in assists per game (5.87), 3rd (27th nationally) in caused turnovers per game (10.87), 4th in draw control percentage (0.513), 4th in draw controls per game (13.67), 4th in free position percentage (0.462), and 5th in scoring defense (11.67). 

Newberry is coming off of a 8-13 loss against Mount Olive. 

Lincoln Memorial currently has an overall record of 7-8 and a 4-5 conference record, and they are tied for 6th in the SAC standings. Newberry has a 10-5  overall record and a conference record of 7-2, and they are currently sitting in 3rd place in the SAC standings.
