Wilson, NC & Mount Olive, NC - The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team will travel to North Carolina for a pair of matches this weekend as they travel to Wilson, NC to face Barton on Friday, April 4th at 7 pm and to Mount Olive, NC to face Mount Olive on Saturday, April 5th at 2 pm.
The Railsplitters are coming off of a 3-0 sweep against North Greenville.
Griffin Wheatley led the team in kills with 12 kills, and
Eliel Salva Torres posted a team-high 0.900 attack percentage for 9 kills and 0 errors.
John Luers was the team-leader in assists with 35.
Matthew Gentry, Luers, and Wheatley tied for the team-high in digs as they each had 4 . Gentry and Salva Torres both led in blocks with 3 each, as Gentry posted 1 solo block and 2 block assists and Salva Torres registered 3 block assists. Gentry recorded a team-high of 2 service aces.
Currently,
Axel van Baars and Gentry are tied in the team-high in kills as they both have 152 kills on the season, with van Baars having a slightly higher kills per set average at 2.58 kills per set. Luers is leading the team in assists with 614 assists for a double-digit average of 10.23 assists per set. Gentry is the team leader in service aces with 29 on the season. Defensively, Luers is leading in digs with an average of 1.93 digs per set for a total of 116 digs on the season. Gentry is leading in blocks with 64 total blocks, accounting for team-high 16 solo blocks and 48 block assists.
In the IVA, Gentry is 3rd in service aces per set with 0.483, 2nd in blocks per set with 1.067, 1st in attack percentage with 0.580, and 10th in points per set with 3.68. Luers is 1st in assists per set with 10.23 and 8th in digs per set with 1.93. Salva Torres is 3rd in the IVA in blocks per set with 1 and 2nd in attack percentage with 0.497.
Johan Negron is 9th in attack percentage with 0.297.
Nationally, Gentry is 11th in service aces per set, 14th in blocks per set, and 1st in attack percentage. Luers is 7th in the nation in assists per set. Salva Torres is 2nd nationally in attack percentage.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial is 4th in the IVA (20th nationally) in service aces per set with 1.52, 3rd in assists per set with 11.17, 2nd (13th nationally) in blocks per set with 2.392, 2nd (12th nationally) in digs per set with 9.40, 1st (11th nationally) in attack percentage with 0.319, 3rd (20th nationally) in kills per set with 12..13, 1st (2nd nationally) in match win-loss percentage with 0.941, and 1st (1st nationally) in opponent hitting percentage with 0.162.

LMU vs Barton:
Lincoln Memorial will face the Barton Bulldogs on Friday, April 4th at 7 pm in Wilson, NC.
This will be the third time that the two teams will be facing each other, with the Railsplitters winning the series 2-0. Both wins for Lincoln Memorial have been 3-0 sweeps, with the most recent match being in April of 2023 in Wilson and the second match being at home in January of 2023.
Barton is coming off of a 3-0 win against Emmanuel.
The Bulldogs are in the Conference Carolinas and have an overall record of 15-10 and a conference record of 10-3. Barton is currently sitting in 3rd in the CC standings.

LMU vs Mount Olive:
Lincoln Memorial will face the #20 Mount Olive Trojans on Saturday, April 5th at 2 pm in Mount Olive, NC.
This will be the 9th match between the Railsplitters and the Trojans, with LMU winning the series 5-3. Their most recent matchup was at home last season in March of 2024, where Lincoln Memorial came out with a 3-2 win. The last time the two teams played each other in Mount Olive was April of 2023, where LMU also came out victorious 3-1.
Mount Olive is coming off of a 3-0 win against Erskine.
The Trojans are in the Conference Carolinas and have an overall record of 18-2 and a conference record of 13-0. Mount Olive is currently sitting in 1st in the CC standings. In the latest AVCA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Poll, Mount Olive was ranked #20.
