Men's Volleyball Travels To Lees-McRae For Last Road Matchup Of The Regular Season

Banner Elk, NC - The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team looks to extend their win streak as they travel to Banner Elk, NS to face the Lees-McRae Bobcats for their last road match up of the regular season Tuesday at 6 pm. 

Tuesday's match will be the 9th meeting between the Railsplitters and the Bobcats, with LMU dominating the series 7-1. Lincoln Memorial has won the last 7 matches, and have won by a 3-0 sweep the last 4. The most recent meeting between the two teams was earlier this season at home in February of 2025, where LMU defeated Lees-McRae 3-0. 

Lincoln Memorial is coming off of a 3-1 win against #20 Mount Olive. Axel van Baars led the team in kills with 15 kills for a 0.263 attack percentage. John Luers lead in assists with 42, and Eliel Salva Torres recorded team-high 4 service aces. Defensively, Tate Colebaugh was the team-leader in digs with 14 and Salva Torres had team-high 3.5 total blocks for 2 solo blocks and 3 block assists. 

Currently on the offensive end, Matthew Gentry is leading the team in kills on the season with 173 kills for 2.58 kills per set, while also posting the highest attack percentage of 0.565. Luers nearly has 700 assists on the season as he has 685 assists for a double-digit average of 10.22 assists per set. Gentry is also the team-leader in service aces with an average of 0.52 service aces per set for a total of 35 on the season. Defensively, Luers is leading in digs with 141 digs for an average of 2.10 digs per set. Gentry leads the team in total blocks with 72, accounting for team-high 19 solo blocks and team-high 53 block assists for an average of 1.07 blocks per set. 

In the IVA, Gentry is 3rd in service aces per set with 0.522, 2nd in blocks per set with 2.10, 1st in attack percentage with 0.565, and 15th in kills per set with 2.58. Luers is 1st in the IVA in assists per set with 10.22 and 7th in digs per set with 2.10. Salva Torres is 11th in the IVA in service aces per set with 0.302, 4th in blocks per set with 0.968, and 3rd in attack percentage with 0.479. Colebaugh is 10th in digs per set with 1.82. 

Nationally, Gentry is 7th in service aces per set, 13th in blocks per set, and 1st in attack percentage per set. Luers is 10th in the nation in assists per set and 24th in digs per set. Salva Torres is 4th in attack percentage in the nation. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is 4th (17th nationally) in service aces per set with 1.60, 5th in assists per set with 11.12, 2nd (9th nationally) in blocks per set with 2.418, 1st (11th nationally) in digs per set with 9.57, 1st (12th nationally) in attack percentage with 0.311, 3rd in kills per set with 12.12, 1st (2nd nationally) in match win-loss percentage with 0.947, and 1st (1st nationally) in opponent attack percentage with 0.159.

Lees-McRae is coming off of a 1-3 loss against Belmont Abbey. 

Lincoln Memorial's overall record is 18-1 and is standing in 1st in the IVA. The Bobcats are in the Conference Carolinas, and they have an overall record of 3-21. Lees-McRae is currently in 8th in the CC standings.
