Dahlonega, GA - The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team will travel to Dahlonega, GA on Wednesday, September 17th to face the University of North Georgia Nighthawks at 3 pm.
This will be only the third time in series history that LMU and UNG will be facing off, with the first meeting dating back to September 11th 2013 in Dahlonega as the Nighthawks defeated the Railsplitters 2-1. Their most recent meeting was last season almost a year ago on September 18th, 2024 where Lincoln Memorial dropped the match 2-4in Harrogate.
Lincoln Memorial is coming off of a split week as they shut out Southern Wesleyan 5-0 on September 10th and fell to Lenoir-Rhyne 1-3 on September 13th. In the match against SWU, five different Railsplitters scored:
Viktoria Filsner, Hannah Staffford,
Ellie Snyder,
Donna van der Zalm, and
Kenzie Zimmers.
Jade Brown tallied one assist in the match and Stafford recorded two. The lone goal from LMU in the L-R match came from van der Zalm in the 4th minute, assisted by Filsner.
Currently,
Paige Branam is leading the team in points with six, accounting for three goals (3rd in the SAC), followed by Filsner with five which includes one goal and three assists (2nd in the SAC). Goalkeeper
Emma Cooke is fourth in the conference in saves per game (3.75) and third in total saves (15).
As a team, Lincoln Memorial is fourth in corner kicks per game (5.50), in saves per game (3.75), and in shutout percentage (.500).
North Georgia is coming off of a 2-2 tie against #16 Lee.
The Railsplitters are going into the midweek contest with a 2-1-1 overall record, and the Nighthawks are going into Wednesday woth a 3-0-1 overall record. LMU is tied for third in the South Atlantic Conference standings with Emory & Henry and Mars Hill, while and North Georgia is second in the Peach Belt Conference as standings are based off of overall records since no teams have started conference play thus far.
