Harrogate, TN – Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball returns to Mary Mars Gym on Thursday night for a nonconference "Blackout" matchup against King University, with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. The Railsplitters (5–5, 2–0 SAC) enter the contest fresh off a dominant 3–0 sweep of UVA Wise on Tuesday and will look to continue building momentum on their home floor.
LMU has featured a balanced offense through the early part of the season, averaging just under 12 kills per set while hitting .187 as a team. Kaytlin Johnson leads the Railsplitters with 131 kills (3.5 per set) to go along with 96 digs, while Laney Inman (82 kills) and Megan Maier (79 kills) have been steady contributors at the net. The setting duo of Lauren Pickett and Carley Raleigh have combined for nearly 10 assists per set, and libero Lauren Jacob has anchored the back row with 167 digs.
King (3–4) comes into Thursday's matchup looking to rebound from a 3–1 loss to Mars Hill. The Tornado are led by outside hitter Gracia Love (49 kills) and middle blocker Riley Nelson (49 kills), with libero Faith Morse pacing the defense at 110 digs. Setter Kylie Love has dished out 108 assists this season, averaging nearly five per set to lead the Tornado offense.
This will mark the 15th all-time meeting between LMU and King, with the Railsplitters holding an 11–3 advantage in the series. LMU has won two straight over the Tornado, including a 3–1 victory in the most recent matchup on August 26, 2022. The Railsplitters have taken eight of the last ten contests overall and own a 4–1 record against King in Harrogate.
Following Thursday's match, LMU will shift back to South Atlantic Conference play with a road contest at Mars Hill on Friday at 6 p.m. The Lions enter at 3–2 on the season and hold a 29–15 advantage in the all-time series. LMU dropped last year's meeting in Mars Hill but will aim to build on its strong conference start as the Railsplitters close out the week.
