Game Recap: Field Hockey | | John Dunn

Field hockey falls in a tightly contested game at home against Wingate

Harrogate, TN - Three days after falling on the road to ninth-ranked Lander, the Lincoln Memorial field hockey team was at home for the first time this season against the Wingate Bulldogs. The Railsplitters defeated the Bulldogs in exciting fashion in 2024 with the game going to a shootout situation. Seeking its second straight win over Wingate, Lincoln Memorial had its hands full from the start. Friday's game is the first of two meetings between the two teams this season, with the latter being the lone match up within conference play.

The Bulldogs wasted no time in going on the offensive, scoring their first goal in the first 30-seconds of the game. However, the Lincoln Memorial defense stood tall, holding Wingate scoreless for the remainder of the half. The Railsplitters knotted the game at 1-1 midway through the third quarter on a penalty corner when Lise Holla assisted Jimena Loustalot's shot, equalizing the game. Wingate struck back early in the final frame to take a narrow 2-1 lead. Lincoln Memorial battled in the final frame, attacking often, but were unable to find the game-tying goal, falling narrowly to Wingate, 2-1.

Lincoln Memorial will be back in action on Sunday, once again on the road, at Barton College in Wilson, NC with the game slated to begin at 2 PM.
