Women's Soccer Face #11 Catawba Saturday On The Road

Salisbury, NC - The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team will have their last road trip of the month on Saturday, September 20th as they travel to Salisbury, NC to face the #11 Catawba College Catawba Indians at 3:30 pm. 

The Saturday match up will be the 25th all-time meeting between LMU and Catawba, with the Railsplitters falling short the series 6-13-5. Their most recent face off was last season on September 21, 2024 where the Catawba Indians defeated Lincoln Memorial 3-0. The last time LMU was victorious against Catawba in Salisbury was on November 19, 2019 in the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals, where Lincoln Memorial came out on top 3-1. 

The Railsplitters are looking to bounce back as they are coming off of a 1-5 loss against #10 North Georgia. on September 17th.  In the match against North Georgia, Sophia Berglund scored in the 32nd minute off of a Hannah Stafford assist. 

Currently, Paige Branam is leading the team in points with six with three goals, while Filsner and Stafford are behind her with one goal and three assists each. Filsner is the team-leader in shots and shots on goal, with eight and four, respectively. Goalkeeper Emma Cooke has 25 saves on the season so far with a 71.4 save percentage. 

In the South Atlantic Conference Stafford is 3rd in assists per game (0.75), 10th in points per game (1.25), and 2nd in total assists (3). Filsner is 5th in assists per game (0.60), 2nd in game-winning goals (1), and 2nd in total assists (3). Cooke is 2nd in saves per game (5), 4th in shutouts (2), and 2nd in total saves (25). Branam is 4th in total goals (3). 

Nationally, Filsner and Stafford are 12th in total assists with three. 

As a team, Lincoln Memorial is 4th in corner kicks per game (4.80), and 3rd in saves per game (5.20). 

Catawba is coming off a 2-0 win against Carson-Newman on September 17th. 

The Railsplitters are going into the weekend contest with a 2-2-1 overall record and a conference record of 0-1. The Catawba Indians are entering the match with a undefeated record: a 5-0 overall record and a 1-0 conference record. In the South Atlantic Conference standings, Lincoln Memorial is tied for 3rd with Emory & Henry, Carson-Newman, and Mars Hill with a 0-1 record while Catawba is tied for first with Newberry, Lenoir-Rhyne, and Anderson with a 1-0 record.
