Columbus, GA – The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team fell to the #9 Tampa Spartans 3-0 Wednesday afternoon.
The Railsplitters created opportunities in their attacking third early in the match, but were not on target. The first on goal chance came from Tampa in the 8
th minute, giving
Daniel Benedek Miklosi his first save of the match.
The next 14 minutes were quiet, possession was back-and-forth, but no shots were taken by either team. The 24
th minute was when LMU's first on target shot came, as Szymon Sokolicki fired off a shot, blocked.
Lincoln Memorial had two more shot opportunities in the first half and Tampa had one, but none were on frame. The teams entered halftime tied at 0-0.
Tampa started the second half on a positive note, as they were able to get a goal on the board right at the beginning of the second half with Lopez scoring in the 46
th minute.
For the first 36 minutes of the second half, Lincoln Memorial could not create any scoring opportunities to tie up the match, but Tampa was able to get some off-target shots off.
The Spartans extended the lead by netting two more goals: one in the 81
st minute by Offner and one in the 83
rd minute by Curtis to make the score 0-3.
The Railsplitters were able to get a couple of more shots off before the final whistle, but none were on frame. The final score was 0-3 with Tampa getting the win.
Sokolnicki led the afternoon with shots and shots on goal with two and one, respectively. Benedek Miklosi played all 90 minutes and recorded one save.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded five shots, with one being on frame, one saves, and no corner kicks.
With the loss, the Railsplitters move to 2-4 overall on the season and Tampa moves to 5-0-1 on the season.

th at 5:30 pm at LMU Lacrosse Complex.
