Men's Soccer Draws To The Cobras

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team draws to the Coker Cobras Saturday evening.  

The Cobras started the shot attempts early as Coker took a shot on frame in the 3rd minute and was saved by Daniel Benedek Miklosi.

For the next 20 minutes, possession was juggled, with both teams able to create some scoring opportunities, but none were on target.

The next shot that was on goal was in the 22nd minute by Coker followed by another Benedek Miklosi save. The same thing happened in the 28th minute, also saved.

The Railsplitters were able to get some shots off but unable to get them on frame. The score going into halftime was tied up at 0-0.  

For the first 15 minutes of the second half, both teams battled from end to end, but neither team was able to get any shots on frame.

In the 64th minute, Botond Skulka crossed the ball from the left side of the 18-yard box to Antonio Talavera who headed the ball past the keeper to give the Railsplitters the lead 1-0.

The Cobras responded back by three shots on goal in the 65th and 66th minutes, with one being a team save and two saved by Benedek Miklosi, followed by another Coker shot in the 68th minute, also saved by Benedek Miklosi.

The back and forth continued as LMU then got their shot at extending the lead with Hays Adams taking a shot on goal in the 76th minute, saved by the Coker goalkeeper.

The Cobras tied up the match in the 79th minute as they score the same way LMU did with a cross and a header by Abalam, making the score 1-1.

Coker made one more attempt at taking the lead in the 89th minute as they took a shot, which is saved by Benedek Miklosi.

Talavera scored the lone goal for the Railsplitters and Skulka recorded the assist. Talavera led in shots with two, and Benedek Miklosi played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied seven saves.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial record nine shots, with two on goal, seven saves, and one corner kick.

With the win, LMU moves to 2-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play and Coker moves to 1-0-4 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play.

LMU will travel to Greeneville, TN on Wednesday October 1st to face Tusculum at 7:30 pm.

The Railsplitters will make the short trip to Greeneville, TN to face Tusculum on Wednesday, October 1st at 5 pm.
